Oyetola, Aregbesola’s factions bicker over Tinubu, Osinbajo

The All Progressives Congress (APC) factions of Osun Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola and Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola are bickering following Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s declaration of intent to contest for the 2023 presidency.

Commissioner for Works and Transport, Remi Omowaiye, who led Oyetola’s faction to back Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s presidential aspiration started the social media war.

But former aide of Aregbesola, Wale Alabi, said Osinbajo should be allowed to pick the ticket.

Omowaiye wrote on his Facebook page: “I am looking forward to HE Yemi Osinbajo’s presidential ambition declaration but all should know that he is not a match for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

“If democracy is about number, Asiwaju would win APC presidential ticket as well as the 2023 presidential election. The popular VP lost his polling unit in previous elections.”’

Backing him, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Oyetola on Student Affairs and Mobilisation, Comrade Kehinde Ayantunji, said: “Speaking good English is not enough to run a country like Nigeria”.

But Alabi on his Facebook page responded: “May Osinbajo triumph over his traducers.

Bamiduro Bukky, said: “The way those BATterred heads kept daring PYO to declare used to amuse me.

“Now that PYO has declared, come and do your worst.

“Nigeria no be anybody’s property. Prof Osinbajo will be on the ballot in 2023, he will win and he will succeed.”

A group, Osun Matters Arising in a statement by its coordinator, Luqman Abubakr, said, “Asiwaju remains the strongest aspirant for the party to win the 2023 presidential seat. He has paid an enormous price for APC. No gang-up can work against him. Those who have shown interest within the party have the right to contest but Asiwaju remains the best.”
